Description
Paul and the ship’s company struggle through violent surf as their vessel breaks apart in the storm. Men cling to planks and shattered timbers while others swim toward the rocky shore, fulfilling the word Paul received during the voyage: the ship would be lost, but every life would be spared. The crowded ancient vessel, torn sails, crashing waves, and scattered survivors portray the dramatic climax of Acts 27, when Paul was being taken to Rome under guard and the voyage ended in shipwreck. The scene emphasizes divine providence amid disaster—God’s promise holds even when human plans, cargo, and vessel are destroyed. This artwork serves preaching, teaching, and devotional themes of faith under trial, missionary endurance, deliverance, and the sovereign protection of God.
